It was hot but once the sun went down it was actually very pleasant. The group met outside of Pilot Knoll Park. Two of the participants were laughing because they had gone to the address listed on the site and it was actually a house. Not realizing it was the park across the street they knocked on the door and a guy in a bath robe answered. Obviously he was not up for a hike, at least I hope not! They soon discovered that we were meeting across the street. There were six of us. The trail head was right at the parking lot and led us under a bridge near the lake and into the forest. We looked around for the alligator but did not find anything. It was a nice hike through the woods and the end of the trail opened out to a playground where we rested before hiking through a Highland Village neighborhood to the bridges that would lead us back to our cars. It was fun looking down on the marshes from the bridges where we could see some of the area we had just hiked. Hope to make it back out to the trail many times more. DFWA
